Feeling Fancy?

Blue maxi dress: Love Culture
Jean jacket: Forever 21
Tan heels: Forever 21

I wore this dress to the beach and dinner event with my dad. It was a four hour drive to get there. Naturally, I wanted to be comfortable for the drive so I put on my new maxi dress which is as close to wearing pajamas as I can get without actually putting on pjs. Plus I switched into my flip flops on the drive down and on the beach. Even though I thought this outfit was comfy and casual enough for the beach (but dressy enough for the event while wearing my heels), my parents thought I looked very formal. They thought the length of the dress and the gold embellishments made it look fancy.

What do you think? Do you think it's too fancy or do you think the styling made it more casual?

  5. A maxi dress really is so comfy, good choice for a long car ride transition to dinner! I hate to be a stick in the mud, but you're aware of all the reasons why forever 21 can sell stuff so cheap, right?

    1. I have heard some pretty bad things about Forever 21 and their company practices. I'd like to begin to distance myself from the "fast fashion" and "too cheap to be true price" stores, especially since I found the wonderful world of thrift shopping. Thanks for your comment. :)

  8. This is a really beautiful color and it's not too too fancy. The denim jacket makes it a little more casual. The great thing about this dress is that you can do dressy and casual. DDD (double duty dress).

  11. Love the color and shape of this maxi dress! I think how you tied the gold belt was lovely and gave the outfit a very unique look! The dress definitely looked more casual with that jean jacket! I think is the perfect dress to go from day to night!
